You’ve got ideas on how to improve your studies? You want to tackle problems directly? You would like to help improve things and volunteer? You want to know what’s going on? You want to be part of it?
Then run for office!
Below you can find an online form to get you on the list of your choice.
Here we answer all kinds of questions about your candidacy. If you have any questions, please contact asta-hochschulpolitik@hfk-bremen.de.
What can I run for?
You can be nominated for all committees. Some of them may suit you, your concerns or your situation at the university better as others. An overview of all student representatives who will be elected this fall can be found on the main page of the committee election.
In which time period can I run for election?
Your candidacy (election proposal) has to be submitted to the election committee in the period from the 5th til 21st of October 2020. For the coordination of joint lists, please contact the student speaker for university politics.
Which documents do I need?
For your candidacy you need a form in which you can enter your election proposal. You can make a list together with your fellow students or you can make your own list. You can also look for a substitute for your candidacy. Together you have one vote and can share the work, but you may also both exercise the rights and duties of your position at any time.
Here you can find the forms which you have also received via e-mail.
Can I be a candidate for all committees?
Yes, you can run for several or even all committees. However, you can only be on one list per committee.
When will I know the result?
The deadline for this year’s election is Monday, November 23. By then, all election envelopes must have been received by the election administration. The election results will be announced on Wednesday, November 25.
How long will I remain in office?
The positions of the student representatives in all university politics committees are elected annually, so you will remain in office for two semesters. Of course you have the right to resign from your position at any time. Then, depending on the committee, your substitute will either take over your position or a student from the list of successors will fill it.
What’s in it for me?
As a student representative you will gain insight into important decision-making processes at the HfK and learn to take responsibility. In addition, you can get a certificate of your committee activities, which can have a positive effect on BAFöG and/or your health insurance contribution, depending on the amount of work involved. Last but not least, committee work does not look bad in most CVs.
